Elderly guy left alone in the Mall

It was heart breaking to see this elderly man sitting/sleeping alone with no relatives in site. How can someone just leave a person alone and expect the security to watch them? I've already seen families waiting around for the old relatives to die so they can take their properties and if anyone has visited Mubarakiya they've seen the old men left with the drivers at the old Kuwaiti coffee shops for hours at a time, gone are the days of old when the older generations were respected.

  1. Does Kuwait have "old folks homes"? I figure in this culture it would be frowned upon to place ones parents or family elders in a home. I imagine there are a lot of bad cases hidden in local homes. If I were an older Kuwaiti I would retire in the U.S. at a retirement community. Better than being stuck in a dark corner of the house and neglected.

    1. There aren't any typical homes like that here, family is left to take care of them. There is some kind of Ministry for the old people, I'm thinking in regards of allowance but not care and no one checks on the elderly to make sure they are cared for. I do know there are many cases of the elderly being abandoned in the hospitals until they pass away.
