Arab Times stole my Posting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love to inform people about things that are going on in Kuwait and write about my experiences. But when someone steals my work and credits themselves with my work it really pisses me off. My mom called me today asking me I had seen the Thursday edition of Arab Times. She informed me that in the section called "Overheard in the Souk" they had copied and pasted my article about my trip to the zoo. I couldn't believe it.
I immediately went to my mom's house to get the paper. There in print to my disbelief was my freaking article I wrote. OMG! I can't believe the audacity of that person who printed my article. If they are reading they better issue me a written apology in the news paper or there will be hell to pay! I will be calling and more importantly visiting Arab Times soon to make a major issue and I will inform the owner and management of plagiarism within their company.
First of all most of the employees of Arab Times don't use American text. All of their reporting is in a British manner, such as when a car turns turtle so if the person reading my stolen article will know immediately that this is not the same text as most of the paper. If they need a reporter or want to hire me then ask but DON'T EVER COPY MY WORK AND THINK YOU WILL GET AWAY WITH IT! This issue has just begun and I'm prepared to make a BIG BIG deal of it.
The person decided to change some wording and edit out some paragraphs but it's still my work and for the person who stole my posting it's called plagiarism and you should hope you still have a job once I get done with you!

  2. Oh no they didn't!!!!! How dare the unprofessional people at Arab Times steal and then print your article!!!! Goes to show what cheap people work for Arab Times, they need to pay you for your article. Guess everyone in Kuwait is reading your blogs...one way or another..keep up the good work..let us know when they apologize!

  4. doesnt the end justify the means? i mean, sure, you can look at it as plagiarism, one would think you would be flattered. you may have just played an instrumental role in changing the lives of the animals at the zoo.

this is not the states; you can go there and yell until you are blue in the face, but i doubt anything "formal" will take place.

if you are going to look at this from a legal perspective, think of this; do u have a copyright against someone taking your material and using it?

  5. The point is if the editor like the article so much he could have asked me via e-mail if he could use it and I would have gladly said yes, but when you take something and rewrite it messing up the original content then it ticks me off.

  8. This is awful. It's good you were aware of it and claimed due credit.

  10. I understand not being credited for your work and that it would be nice to just be asked first. On a positive note though you did make a comment about wanting to raise awareness of the animals conditions and it seems the "reporter" was helping you out.

  11. I just found out about your blog through 248am.com because I too have experienced something similar. But instead of someone plagiarizing my work, someone took my picture off my blog & put it in their article without my permission. Whatever happened with you & your situation?

  12. I'm sure a lot of pictures are taken off blogs that's why most people write their names on it to protect me. I haven't posted any pics that really need all that. Nothing happened with it. I called the manager and he apologized. I don't think there is much I can.

  13. To the person who asked about copywrite laws...the writer has full copywrite on his/her work. To steal someones elses writing in this manner is against the journalist code of conduct.
This is not the first time I have heard of and even seen a journalist from the Arab Times do this.
It gives good journalists a bad name and puts a black spot on the media.
The journalist who did this should be very ashamed of themselves.
Saying all this though as we are in Kuwait almost anything goes here and some people believe they are above the law in many walks of life.
I know this post is months later and I truely hope you did get some form of satisfaction from the unethical person who stole your work.
    from a sympathetic Journalist!

  14. what is the reason to write this post, for people to read it. Sucks that arab times took it, but people need content and not always can people wait for permission or pay people for it. Journalists have an ethical obligation, but so do a lot of jobs, and not everyone follows it. Name one job where people follow the ethical codes. u cant. bec humans are not completely ethical and u should be more tolerant.
